At Levanger Garden and Flower Festival (LUHB), children are taught about urban gardening and flowers. The aim of the festival is to show the children the beauty of plants and flowers. During the event, kids participate in workshops, seminars, competitions, and games. It was essential the festival’s visual identity was appealing to children and expressed the festival’s overall idea – so I came up with the idea of incorporating a character. The plan was to use this as a brand mascot as well.
As normal, I began with sketches on paper, before I started digitising and refining my favourite ones.
Developing the brand
With the logo and main mascot in place, I created a playful colour palette with vibrant and primary colours. The font I selected has a handwritten style, in uppercase as though a child could have written it.
I also wanted to create more characters, and ended up with a set of animals to communicate the brand. Creating a set of guidelines, I made a brand guide outlining all guides.
Creating the assets
The festival needed a range of materials, and I created a set of wristband tickets, t-shirts, posters, programme flyers, and more.
