Pick carefully — most people stick with their domain name for the long haul (to avoid confusing users and to build up a strong domain authority).
Try to keep it:
- Easy to spell
- Short and simple
- Closely tied to your brand or business name
And yes, more than happy to brainstorm with you!
A domain extension is the end of a domain, like .co.uk, .com or .org. While quirky ones like .media or .ai exist, traditional extensions feel more trustworthy.
Some buy multiple extensions (e.g. both .com and .co.uk) to protect their brand and lock out competition. You can redirect all of these extensions to your main website/domain.
A custom email like name@yourdomain.co.uk looks far more professional than something like company@gmail.com. If you’ve got a domain, Healthy Pixels can help you set up a Microsoft 365 email address to match.
Already own your domain? Great — we can either:
- Transfer it to Healthy Pixels’ hosting, or
- Point it to a website hosted by us/elsewhere
If someone else already owns the domain you want, you might be able to buy it if it’s parked or up for sale. But watch out for inflated prices and dodgy sellers.
It is also recommended to check the domain’s history first — some have been previously used for spam or shady content, which can hurt your search rankings.
Any payment for purchasing a domain from a reseller needs to go directly from you to the seller, and not through Healthy Pixels. That said, we’re happy to advise and help with communication.
This purchase should be a one-off upfront cost to the seller, after which you’ll switch to a standard annual renewal rate (see below).
If you are struggling to get your desired domain, please reach out.
Most new domains cost around £10-15/year, depending on the extension. You’ll renew it annually as long as you want your website/email to stay online.
